What diagnostic machine do I need?

It depends on your level: a basic OBD2 reader for clearing generic faults, or a professional bidirectional multibrand device for ECU coding, DPF regeneration and service resets.

Do scanners include updates?

Basic readers are usually lifetime. Professional equipment includes 1-2 years of free updates to add new vehicle models.
